Vidya Balan, who has always chalked out her own
path from the outset,
will be seen in a fun, candid and light-weight role in the
keenly awaited slice-of-life comedy, “Tumhari Sulu”, being produced bT-Series and Ellipsis Entertainment.
The actress, endowed with impeccable real-life
comic timing, will be seen in a completely different avatar in the movie
where she plays a night RJ (radio jockey).
What makes the film even more
interesting is that it has Vidya pair up withwell-known film/theatre actor and
director, Manav Kaul, to play her screenhusband. Manav
excelled in important roles in a host of films including “Jajantaram
Mamantaram”, “Citylight”, “Kai Po Che”, “Jai Gangaajal”, “Wazir” and “Maroon”.
Under his theatre group, Aranya, he has directed a number of notable plays
like “Illhaam”, “Park” and “Shakkar Ke Paanch Daane.
“Tumhari Sulu” begins shooting
later this month. Vidya will shortly embark on a final round of look tests and
script readings to prep for the role. She will also taking dance lessons for
the fun film in which music plays a vital role. Says director Suresh
Triveni, “Our search for the character of Ashok lasted for two months. We
finally zeroed down on Manav, who is a fine, seasoned actor capable of blending
into different roles. We were looking for someone solid opposite Vidya and
Manav fits the bill to the tee.”
“Tumhari Sulu” is
produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Tanuj Garg, Atul Kasbekar and Shanti
Sivaram Maini. It is slated for a December 1 release.
