Even as early morning temperatures are steadily dropping in the city, Malad Masti 2017 was the perfect excuse for citizens living in and around Malad to wake up and rush out to experience the exciting line-up of almost a dozen Adrenalin-pumping activities.
It's was a fun and gaming Sunday morning again on the usually congested roads of Malad backroad when it morphed into a picture of calm as Aslam Shaikh, MLA Malad helped residents of Malad to reclaim a stretch of this suburban neighborhood.
Aslam Shaikh, MLA Malad said "The campaign is all about getting the people to enjoy the city that belongs to them. In an age where our parks are being swallowed by infrastructure, where our children spend more time on electronic gadgets with virtual friends than real people and where child obesity is soaring; this campaign aims to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, to promote the need for equitable street design and healthy transport, and give people a new way to enjoy the public space in our city".
This initiative replaced cars on the road with activities like Games, Zumba, Yoga, Aerobics, Arts & Crafts, Workshops, Health & Fitness, Crossfit. Enthusiasts who liked to shake a leg to burn those extra calories checked out plenty of activities, including Games, Zumba, Aerobics, Crossfit etc. Also, there were sessions of yoga and meditation at different spots around the venue for those who like to do their work out slow and steady.
Besides, there were also a sizable number of recreational activities lined up during the three-hour event which allowed participants to relax and let their hair down while enjoying the positive vibes all around.
Artists like Tarun & Shivani, Shashank Vyas, Dj Lloyd , Ankit Tiwari, Sahil Khan, Lekha Rachh, Arjun Bijlani, Lizaa Malik, Thakur Anoop Singh, Raqesh Bapat, Kushal Paul, Shadab Sabri, Sharib Sabri, Shweta Chaudhary, Gurpreet Kaur Chadha, Monica Bedi, Yash Wadali, Jigar and Suhrad Soni performed at the event.
For the entire duration of the event, Malad backroad turned into a vehicle-free zone. In the build-up to the programme, no vehicles were allowed to be parked on the road. Participants and those coming for the event from distant locations were encouraged to use public transport so as to reduce traffic congestion in the area.
