Late Yash Chopra and T. Subbarami Reddy had jointly produced films Vijay, Chandni and Lamhe and were very closely associated for a long time.
T. Subbarami Reddy, Founder of TSR Foundation, has instituted Yash Chopra Memorial National Award to perpetuate the memory of his great friend and great film maker Yash Chopra. The Award carries Rs. Ten Lakhs, Citation and Gold Medal for the outstanding film personality for his/her outstanding contribution to the film industry.

In the year 2014, the Award was given to : Amitabh Bachchan
In the year 2015, the Award was given to: Rekha
In the year 2016, the Award was given to: Shah Rukh Khan
The Jury consisting of Pamela Chopra, T. Subbarami Reddy,( Founder of the Award), Simi Grewal, Boney Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar, Honey Irani, and Alka Yagnik met today and unanimously decided to give The 5th Yash Chopra Memorial National Award for the year 2018 to Padma Vibhushan Asha Bhonsle for her outstanding contribution to the film industry. Anu Ranjan and Shashi Ranjan, Conveners of Award Committee also participated in the Jury Committee Meeting. Asha Bhonsle is a legendary singer having been in the industry for close to 6 decades. She has been admired and appreciated by millions of cinema goers all over the country.
The Award will be given to Asha Bhonsle on Friday 16th February at 8pm at JW Marriott Hotel, Juhu Mumbai. Governor Maharashtra, His Excellency, Shri Vidyasagar Rao, will be the Chief Guest and film personalities like Shah Rukh Khan, Rekha, Sridevi, Jayaprada and several other film personalities will be participating in the function.
