Synopsis:
What kinds of photographs do you take when you see photography primarily as a means of self-expression? When you choose to photograph only those who are part of your life, or your immediate living environment? Do these photographs express a special kind of intimacy because the subjects are so close to the personal life of the photographer?
Indrajit Khambe, theatre person turned photographer 6 years ago, is clear that his photography is self-expression, focused on his family, friends, neighbours and local environment. Photography, he declares, is the way he lives his life. He thinks photography 24 hours a day, and over time, he has begun to see photographs everywhere. His work includes a series on his friend Omprakash who is well-known for playing female roles in the Dashavatar drama, another on his wife's complicated second pregnancy, and yet another simply titled street photography.
We are delighted to invite Indrajit Khambe - a photographic poet - to Mumbai Local, to take us through his life of photography. Through his photographs, we will walk with him into his worlds, and his ways of seeing them. And for an evening, share his extraordinarily special lens on life.
Look forward to a wonderful session dedicated to drinking in images that speak volumes of everyday life, while sharing the philosophy of a photographer who believes that your art should be the way you live your life.
For those of you who absolutely cannot make it to the venue, we will be live on Facebook for you. Join us on our page at 5 pm on Saturday, 2nd June.
