The Pr. Chief Commissioner CGST & Central Excise, Mumbai zone organized the 29th West zonal Cultural Meet 2017-18 under the aegis of the Central Revenue Sports and Cultural Board, CRSCB, at Mumbai from the 14th to 16th Feb 2018 at Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak, Auditorium, Shivaji Park, Dadar West, Mumbai.
The primary objective of CRSCB and this cultural meet was to encourage the employees of the Revenue Department under the Finance Ministry namely CBEC and CBDT to whole heartedly participate in the cultural activity and to foster and bond amongst themselves and to inculcate a spirit of mutual respect, friendly competition and brotherhood while participating and promoting fine arts in various disciplines of Music, Dance and Drama.
About 200 Participants form West Zone which comprises of the Sub Zones, namely Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad belonging to CGST & C.Ex, Customs and Income Tax Department participated in the said Zonal meet at Mumbai showcasing their talent in the fields of Dance (Solo & Group) Music (Vocal and Instrumental, Classicial and Light and Group Folk songs) and Drama (both in Regional and Hindi).
All the participants attending the said Zonal Cultural Meet have already excelled and qualified and won Medals at the Sub-Zonal Competitions held in their respective Sub-Zones.
The participants had wide range of experience and practice in their fields of performance and a few of them are involved from time to time with commercial drama and stage performances. Distinguished personalities like Ms. Jayantimala D/o Sitara Devi, Shri Mangesh Desai, Shri Sudesh Berry, Shri Vinod Hasal, shri Aneesh Vidyashankar, Ms. Gangaur Sharma, Ms. Tirrtha Murbadkar were present as Judges.
The Zonal meet commenced on the 14th February 2018 at 14.00 Hrs at Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak Auditorium, Shivaji Park, Dadar West, Mumbai, where the meet was declared open by Shri Sajid Nadiadwala, a luminary of the Celluloid world who requires no introduction. The competitions were held on the 14th February, 2018 from 14.30 Hrs to 23.00 Hrs. A ‘Bada Khana’ was hosted by the Organisers at Kohinoor Hotel, Prabhadevi, Mumbai on the 15.02.2018, from 18.00 Hrs which witnessed the gathering of all the participants and guest.
The Awards Ceremony on 16.02.2018 was graced by the Chief Guest Shri Pranab Kumar Das, Special Secretary & Member, Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) , Shri P.C.Mody, Pr.Chief Commissoner Income Tax and Shri Rajeev Tandon, Chief Commissioner, CGST & CX, Mumbai, Kailash Kher, Sashikala Nair, Rajeev Tandon, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, P.K Das Chakravarti, Shyam Raj Prasad, Rhea Chakraborty and other eminent guests from Bollywood, where the winners of various categories who were felicitated.
The Awards Ceremony witnessed a flurry of activity, and appearance by glittering artists of Bollywood, eminent personalities from various arts, revenue officers and their families from Mumbai to boost the morale of the participants and to encourage more and more participation in the years to come.
